Surprise, Surprise

For some reason I NEVER noticed this before. But last night as I was watching the last episode of Medium on-line at NBC.com I noticed something in the end credits I'd never seen before. Allison Dubois is a consultant for the show. O_o

You mean there's a REAL Allison Dubois?! Did anyone else know this? Who is she? Is she LIKE the character on the tv show? Does this mean that the characters I love so much are based on reality in some way, shape or form?

Someone PLEASE illuminate me!

Yes, she is real. The show is 'based' on her and her husband. She has written at least one book.

Yep, the show is (loosely) based on the REAL Allison DuBois' life.

This was pretty much established when the show first premiered, but yes, it is loosely based on the real life Allison DuBois and her occupation in helping law enforcement solve crimes and missing persons, basically illustrating her life experiences through that and her homelife. Her official website can be viewed right here (http://www.allisondubois.com/). She's also an author that has written the book Don't Kiss Them Goodbye (http://www.amazon.com/Dont-Kiss-Good-bye-Allison-DuBois/dp/B000J10884/ref=pd_sim_b_1/104-4192744-0321523), which is what the show is based around as she tells about her experiences with her ability and her relationship with her family, along with helping people understand what it's like to be a medium. There's also another book she has out, called We Are Their Heaven: Why The Dead Never Leave Us (http://www.amazon.com/We-Are-Their-Heaven-Never/dp/0743291123).

To sum it up: Yes, there is a real Allison DuBois and the show does visually give a perspective on her real-life experiences. Not an actual biography look into her life mind you, but in most of the episodes do have something involved with what the real Allison witnessed through her life in some way.

You can watch Allison talk about her life and the show in these mini-interview clips: Part One (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5okOKdNqxw4), Part Two (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmsyKwB6nAo), Part Three (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4KbE1ndoRE) and Part Four (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyfFVY_E9Sg).

hmm, real-life Joe says it's pretty accurate...?
i mean. the episodes are not her real life, but their personalities and the girls' gifts are pretty much the same.

...and a third coming out this fall. It's on Amazon but listed as still untitled.

Does that mean some of the ghosts may be similar?

A real Charles Walker?

Oooooh...
